Strawberries are part of the rose family and aren't really considered a fruit or a berry but the flower's enlarged receptacle. First cultivated in ancient Rome, strawberries are now the most popular “berry” fruit globally. In provincial France, they were regarded as an aphrodisiac.
How to choose them
Always pick medium-sized strawberries that are firm, plump, and deep red; once picked, they don't ripen further.
Strawberries are one of those fruits that you can buy frozen, and their nutritional value is not affected. As a plus, frozen strawberries are usually picked red, firm, and at their best.
You can make this smoothie with ice. , so you don't need it if you are using frozen fruit.
